Strategy Manager
Work with empowering fashion and footwear brands with traceability and help make supply chains responsible and fair.
About TrusTrace
TrusTrace started in 2016 after the four founders were compelled to find a solution against the polluting effects of intensive textile production on soil and water sources in India. The company is now a global, venture-backed impact tech company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. TrusTrace powers traceability programs for many of the world’s largest brands. We are over 130 global colleagues across Sweden, India, US, France and Germany.
Some of the world’s leading fashion brands choose TrusTrace as their traceability and compliance data management platform to ensure their value chains are traceable, responsible, and fair. By standardizing how the largest brands in the world like adidas, Coach and ASICS capture, and digitalize their supply chain data and traceability, we empower our customers with the data to know, prove and improve the impact of their value chains.
Our teams work diligently to ensure our platform continually automates and powers traceability for the world's largest fashion and footwear brands. Our customers can get data on who, when, and where yarns turn into fabrics and then into clothing or shoes for thousands of products simultaneously. Together we make progress on value chains becoming traceable, circular, and fair.
About the role
We are looking for a Strategy Manager
to join our fast-growing team and help us shape the future of our business. You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to define and execute strategic initiatives, drive growth and innovation, and optimize our operations and processes. You will play a critical role in aligning the company's strategic initiatives with the operational execution. This role is pivotal in managing the company's priorities to achieve its objectives and key results (OKRs).
What you will do
TrusTrace is experiencing rapid growth and increasing complexity; the Strategy Manager will be involved in a broad range of activities, such as
- Formulating, Updating & Communicating Comprehensive Strategic Plan: We have a Comprehensive Strategic Plan, and the Strategy Manager will be responsible for updating it and facilitating its execution. You will be involved in formulating new additions to the plan. The person will have to effectively communicate the strategy to ensure everyone in the organisation understands and is committed to it.
- Monitoring and continuously aligning executive goals and priorities: You will track progress, identify risks, and ensure strategic tasks are prioritised correctly, with clear ownership and accountability. The Strategy Manager will help determine and manage the CEO's critical work for business development and progression. You will serve as a sounding board for the leadership team and ensure the various line functions stay aligned with the Comprehensive Strategic Plan, often formalising the goals within the OKR framework.
- Operational Tasks: You will handle internal and external operational tasks, such as setting agendas for board meetings, communicating with teams across the company, and serving as the point of contact for investors and the Board of Directors.
- Facilitating Information Flow: You will be the central point for updates about the business, creating executive summaries and ensuring the CEO focuses on the most strategic decisions.
- Special Strategic Projects: You will manage aspects of strategic growth initiatives, such as fundraising or strategic partnerships, to free up the CEO's time for other critical matters.
- Market Analysis: You will analyze market changes, competitor performance, and the company's performance to the executive team, helping them in strategy development and making strategic decisions. The Strategy Manager will identify and manage new strategic opportunities and ensure the company can respond quickly to changes in the market or competitive threats.
Who you might be:
You should have relevant experience, strategic and operational skills, leadership and communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
Experience:
- Relevant Work Experience: Candidates should have 5-7 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those who have worked in high-growth tech companies or similar environments. This experience should include managing complex projects across departments, providing strategic guidance, and having a track record of influencing outcomes and driving change.
- Leadership Roles: While this role is currently an individual role, experience in managing other people is highly valued. This includes leading via influence, demonstrating acumen in change management, and having a history of making high-level decisions.
Skills:
- Strategic Thinking and Analysis: It is crucial to analyze data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights to inform decision-making. This includes informing the CEO and the executives on relevant trends and frameworks and running the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) process.
- Communication and Leadership: High EQ, team orientation, and the ability to comfortably influence all levels of the organization are essential. Candidates must be effective communicators (with superb presentation skills) and strong leaders who can drive results and impact the executives and the broader organization.
- Operational Proficiency: Skills in project management, financial modeling, and understanding B2B SaaS processes are essential. The candidates should be highly skilled in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Being a "master generalist" who can handle strategic and operational tasks, from product development to finance, is critical. The role requires someone to take on leadership responsibilities, facilitate communication, and make high-level decisions.
Education
- Formal Education: MBA from a reputed educational institution.
- Continuous Learning: Given the evolving nature of the role and the fast-paced environment of a scale-up, a commitment to career development and continuing education is essential. Focusing on communication, leadership, and project management skills is necessary to stay ahead.
Additional Qualities
- High Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Comfort in influencing all levels of the organisation and a team-oriented professional attitude is crucial.
- Self-Starter: Candidates should be self-starters with a desire to learn and evolve, capable of taking initiative and driving projects to completion without constant oversight.
What do we offer?
The role offers an excellent opportunity to drive change and break new grounds in risk management, compliance and sustainability through traceability and data.
The excellent but usual stuff:
- Fixed salary with benefits
- A hybrid work model.
- A centrally located office in Stockholm.
- A dynamic, multicultural, inclusive, and supporting work environment where you can thrive.
As the organization grows, the role of the strategy manager should evolve into building an independent CEO office, including an executive assistant and strategic project managers. You may be excited by the following critical aspects of the position:
- Career Advancement: The Strategy Manager will be a springboard to higher leadership positions within the company.
- Strategic Impact: The role offers the chance to impact the company's strategic direction directly. As a Strategy Manager, you will be involved in high-level strategic planning and special projects that can shape the company's future.
- Visibility and Influence: Working closely with the CEO and other executives will provide you visibility into the most pressing corporate agendas and the opportunity to influence critical decisions.
- Professional Development: The role will provide a unique learning experience, as it requires a comprehensive understanding of the entire organization and the ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Diverse Experience: As a Strategy Manager, you will gain exposure to a wide range of functions within the company, from operations to strategy, which can enhance your professional skill set.
- Networking and Community: Access to various start-up and B2B SaaS networks and communities, such as SaaSiest, SaaStr, and SaaStock, can provide valuable connections and insights.
The fast-paced nature of TrusTrace means that this role will constantly evolve, offering a dynamic work environment.
